Summer can be a very difficult time for the nearly 225,000 children in Oregon who face food insecurity. When school is out, children who receive free or reduced price meals during the school year have a greater chance of becoming hungry. This leaves them without the necessary nutrition and energy for critical summer play, exercise and learning.
The Summer Food Service Program is a wonderful opportunity for kids to receive nutritious meals during the summer months and to spend time learning and playing with friends in the sunshine. Strong summer meal programs are a community effort, and there are many ways to support and get involved with sites in your community. Please see additional information below and visit our Summer Meals Site Locator to find local programs.
