Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon works closely with national advocacy partners to achieve federal-level policy changes that can help Oregonians put food on the table. A few policies that play a large role in addressing and preventing hunger are:
- The Food, Farm & Jobs Bill (aka The Farm Bill). Provides funding for SNAP (the food stamp program).
- The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act (aka Child Nutrition Reauthorization). Provides funding for child meal programs (school meals, Summer Food, WIC, etc.)
- TANF Block Grant Reauthorization: Provides block grants to states to assist very-low-income families with children through TANF.
