Food Stamp ForumThank you to everyone who was able to attend and/or speak at the fabulous USDA listening session in Portland last week. The panel heard perspectives from numerous Oregonians, and it was a powerful opportunity to help shape federal policy. FNS plans to summarize feedback from all of the listening sessions that have been held nationwide, to post at www.fns.usda.gov. You and/or your organization can still submit written comments on the food stamp program and other nutrition programs. Mike Koentop, the public affairs director for the Western region of FNS, will gladly accept additional written testimony on the 2007 Farm Bill from Oregonians. He has asked that your comments be sent by November 18, 2005, to allow him time to include them in the Western region summary.
