PHFO statement on prioritizing of SNAP benefits

In response to Governor Kitzhaber’s March 12 direction to state agencies to continue the "Heat and Eat” program

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon works closely with national advocacy partners to achieve federal-level policy changes that can help Oregonians put food on the table. A few policies that play a large role in addressing and preventing hunger are:

The Food, Farm & Jobs Bill (aka The Farm Bill). Provides funding for SNAP (the food stamp program).

Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act. Provides funding for child meal programs (school meals, Summer Food, WIC, etc.)

TANF Block Grant Reauthorization: Provides block grants to states to assist very-low-income families with children through TANF.

Get involved!

There are several ways to contact your Representative or Senator to let them know that ending hunger is important to you.
